{"id":1409,"date":"2010-02-19T10:29:33","date_gmt":"2010-02-19T10:29:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xsf.stakeholderforum.org\/2010\/02\/19\/green-policy\/"},"modified":"2023-01-28T22:01:11","modified_gmt":"2023-01-28T22:01:11","slug":"green-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sf.stakeholderforum.org\/index.php\/green-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Stakeholder Forum&rsquo;s Green Policy<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Stakeholder Forum for a sustainable future is an international multi-stakeholder organisation working on sustainable development, and exists to support the increased involvement of stakeholders in international and national governance processes.<\/p>\n<p>We recognise that in meeting these aims our work has an adverse effect on the environment, and we are committed to minimising this at all opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>As such, this policy provides a framework to minimise the environmental impact of our work, following the principles of sustainable development, as we strive to be an example to those who work with us.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Waste Avoidance<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Reduce:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Use of electronic communication, both internally and externally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li>Communication between staff and Board shall be by e-mail or telephone wherever possible, minimising travel to and from the office.<\/li>\n<li>Communication of documents between staff shall be by email wherever possible.<\/li>\n<li>Stakeholder Forum will strive to use &#8216;virtual conferencing&#8217; wherever possible.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>Employees will print or copy documents only when absolutely necessary, and when they do so, will print double sided.<\/li>\n<li>Paper and other office supplies shall be reused wherever possible.<\/li>\n<li>Energy saving equipment, such as long-life light bulbs, shall be used at all opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>We shall ensure only those electrical appliances being used are switched on, and ensure all possible appliances are switched off at night.<\/li>\n<li>We will continually explore new opportunities for increasing energy efficiency.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Recycle<\/strong>:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Where paper cannot be reused, it shall be recycled.<\/li>\n<li>Other waste, including electronic equipment, shall be recycled wherever possible.<\/li>\n<li>Wherever waste cannot be recycled, it shall be disposed of in the most environmentally sound way possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Purchasing<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>We will only purchase recycled office supplies and stationary.<\/li>\n<li>Our publications will be printed on recycled materials wherever possible.<\/li>\n<li>We will only purchase timber from sustainable sources.<\/li>\n<li>We shall work with our suppliers to ensure that they too work to minimise the environmental impact of their products and transportation.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Transport<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Stakeholder Forum shall encourage staff to travel to and from work using public transport.<\/li>\n<li>As we are an international organisation, air travel is an inescapable part of our work.<\/li>\n<li>Accepting this, we will continue to explore and use alternative forms of transport whenever possible.<\/li>\n<li>Stakeholder Forum will measure its carbon emissions using Key Travel&rsquo;s carbon emissions calculator.
