Outcomes from PrepCom II<\/span> <\/span>
<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After attending the recent PrepCom II in New York, Stakeholder Forum has produced the following observations and updates: <\/p>\n

Participation increases \u2013 there were many more civil society actors at the PrepCom than there have been at any previous meetings, including a number of larger international NGOs. Many NGOs were \u2018intelligence gathering\u2019 rather than lobbying, but it was a good opportunity for networking and alliance-building More<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Outcomes from UNEP Stakeholder Forum, IEG Stakeholder Consultation Meeting, 6th March, New York<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/span><\/span>The outcome document produced at Sunday’s Stakeholder Consultation Conference on IEG, SDG and Rio+20<\/a> is now available to download. The meeting brought together a wide range of Stakeholders and was attended by some 250 people. More<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n\n

Aarhus Convention calls for feedback on draft declaration
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

As part of its contribution to the Rio+20 process, the Bureau of the Aarhus Convention has released a draft declaration on the role of the Convention in promoting sustainable development and is inviting stakeholders to provide responses to the document. The declaration is expected to be adopted by the Meeting of the Parties at its fourth session (29 June – 1 July 2011).More

Stakeholders invited to submit contributions and inputs for Rio+20
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a> On 8 March 2011, the Preparatory Committee for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20) invited all Member States, relevant UN system organizations and relevant stakeholders to provide inputs and contributions in writing by 1 November 2011 for inclusion in a draft Conference outcome document. More<\/a><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Global Sustainability Panel consultation questionnaire on Rio+20 through UN-NGLS
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>At the request of the UN Secretary General’s High-level Panel on Global Sustainability (GSP) the UN Non-Governmental Liaison Service is now launching a civil society consultation to share information about the work of the GSP and gather inputs for consideration by the GSP Panelists, their deputies, and the GSP Secretariat. European Youth Meeting 2011: Sustainable Development
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>The Sillam\u00e4e Society for Child Welfare in cooperation with partners from over 20 countries is organising a European Youth Meeting for Sustainable Development in Tallinn, Estonia, from 19 – 24 July 2011. More<\/a><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Global Sustainability Targets – building accountability for the 21st century
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>Stakeholder Forum has produced an analysis of existing targets from global processes on sustainable development, in an effort to highlight the range of commitments that governments are obliged to achieve, and thereby enhance accountability for implementation. Stakeholder Forum releases paper with Bioregional and the Earth Charter Initiative on ‘Principles for the Green Economy’
<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/a>Stakeholder Forum in collaboration with Bioregional and the Earth Charter Initiative have produced a paper which consolidates a range of principles for the green economy, building on existing agreements and also emerging recommendations. The paper hopes to contribute to the emerging debate on defining principles for the green economy to ensure that it serves in the interest of sustainable development. More<\/a><\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

EU gathering stakeholder opinions on priorities for Rio+20

The European Union is currently gathering stakeholder opinions to assist with the development of its priorities for Rio+20 by means of a public consultation. More<\/a><\/span>
