One year out from Rio+20 Stakeholder Forum together with a group of leading UK non-government organisations, including Oxfam, WWF and Christian Aid, today sent a joint letter to the Prime Minister highlighting the urgency of the poverty and resource scarcity challenges and asking him to attend the conference and show leadership and commitment towards a successful Summit in June 2012. <\/a>“Biodiversity and Ecosystem Insecurity: A Planet in Peril”<\/strong> has been produced by Stakeholder Forum.<\/strong> It was edited by Ahmed Djoghlaf<\/strong> and Felix Dodds<\/strong> and includes chapters by: Gusti Muhammad Hatta, Thomas E. Lovejoy, Craig Bennett, Johan Rockstrom, Bob Watson, Achim Steiner, Jan McAlpine<\/strong> and Monique Barbut.<\/strong> The book provides an authoritative and comprehensive assessment of the threats presented to human security and well-being by the loss of ecosystems and biodiversity \u2013 recently confirmed as one of the critical ‘planetary boundaries’ that has already been exceeded.
