Passing of Mama Konat\u00e9<\/p>\n

<\/a> The negotiaitons on Monday heard all parties and key note addresses offering their condolences to the family of Mama Konat\u00e9, Chair of the UNFCCC Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technical Advice, and former Chair of the LDC Group and the Expert Group on Technology Transfer. Respects were paid by all and dedications made to his dedication to the SBSTA and as the UNFCCC Executive Secretary noted, Mama was one of the most active, dedicated and prominent leaders of the international climate change negotiations. His absence at thie COP is sorely missed by all.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

About ten years ago, I read a book called Dead Heat: Global Justice and Global Warming by Tom Athanasiou and Paul Baer. It\u2019s a short accessible summary of the science of climate change, and the scale of the challenge.
