World leaders renew commitment to acheive the MDGs and call for summit to develop new global goals<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Last month world leaders gathered in New York at the UN General Assembly and recommitted to the moral imperative of achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and bettering the lives of millions of people, while at the same time agreed a new plan for agreeing what must follow them, culminating in a 2015 summit to agree the new framework. Further steps were also taken to converge the two tracks of the post-MDG process and the Rio+20 process for developing universal Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Governments now must ensure that the process going forward is as inclusive, transparent and participatory as possible drawing on innovative solutions from all stakeholders.<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n

Stakeholder Forum, CIFAL Scotland, and the UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) will next month be commencing a three-week online course open to all. The course aims to enhance the capacity of stakeholders to understand and engage with the process to create new universal Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

In preparation for the high level segment of the 68th session of the UN General Assembly, Stakeholder Forum, in partnership with the UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs (UNDESA) and CIVICUS, organised two briefing days for Major Groups and other stakeholders at UN HQ in New York.<\/span><\/span> <\/span>A
