The process to create the Sustainable Development Goals and the post-2015 Development Agenda has built up significant steam in 2013. The process has been open, with constructive and meaningful modalities for stakeholder engagement, including the morning briefing sessions and the first interactive intersessional meeting with stakeholders.<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n
 <\/div>\n
However, as the process enters the decision-making stages, there is greater need than ever to ensure it is coherent, inclusive and participatory. Including the views and expertise of stakeholders to ensure the outcomes of post-2015 are robust, innovative and meaningful. This requires further opportunities and initiatives to engage, inform and empower both civil society and private sector. In 2014, Stakeholder Forum will be embarking on a significant programme of enhanced stakeholder engagement for post-2015, including building capacity of stakeholders and helping providing expert input.<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n

Stakeholder Forum is supporting Future Earth, the global research program for science for sustainability. Stakeholder Forum will be represented by Farooq Ullah on the Future Earth Interim Engagement Committee, which will advise Future Earth on its research agenda.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

Philip Dobie steps down as Chair of the Board<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n

After three years of service as the Chair of the Stakeholder Forum Board of Directors, Philip Dobie, former Director of the UNDP Environment Cluster in Nairobi, has stepped down. Mr. Dobie, who has 30 years of experience in international development, helped guide Stakeholder Forum in the preparation for and follow-up to the Rio+20 Conference. Philip will retain his seat on the Board and will participate in the forthcoming elections to appoint a new Chair. In the meantime, fellow Board member, Craig Bennet, Director of Policy and Campaigns at Friends of the Earth (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) will be the Board’s Acting Chair.

Outreach Magazine during COP 19<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a><\/span><\/div>\n

During the climate negotiations at COP 19 in Warsaw, Poland, which took place from 11-22 November 2013, Stakeholder Forum published ten issues of its multi-stakeholder magazine Outreach. The daily editions featured articles on how climate change relates to a wide range of issues, including: energy, water, gender, forests, agriculture and more.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
