Latest ‘Blue Diamonds’ Newsletter

On behalf of the UNEP Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-Based Activities (GPA-Marine), Stakeholder Forum is pleased to draw your attention to latest edition of the GPA newsletter.

This edition focuses extensively on wastewater management and contains articles from authors across the globe. The newsletter can be freely downloaded here, and from the GPA website at http://www.gpa.unep.org/documents/blue_diamonds_july_2010_english.pdf

David Osborn, Coordinator of the GPA, is pleased to introduce this newsletter, which follows on from the report entitled “Sick Water?: The central role of wastewater management in sustainable development”, launched by UNEP and UN-HABITAT earlier this year on World Water Day. The question mark in the title of this report emphasises the need to change the way we think about wastewater. The report highlights the urgent need to address wastewater management for both health and environmental reasons and calls for an entirely new dimension of investments in wastewater management. The report, graphics and complementing information material can be freely downloaded at http://www.grida.no/publications/rr/sickwater/
