Bonn 2011 Process

The German Federal Government organised an international conference from 16 to 18 November 2011 in Bonn to examine the nexus of water, energy and food security in the context of a green economy.

The conference offerd an unusual opportunity for cross-sectoral and high-level policy design and a chance to highlight the role of water resource management for all social and economic development.

The conference has two interrelated objectives;

  • to develop cross-sector solutions for achieving water, energy and food security;
  • to position the interface of water, energy and food security within the discourse of the “Rio plus 20” process and “green economy”.

The Bonn 2011 process will bring together 400 high-ranking decision-makers and decision-shapers from the spheres of politics, academia, the United Nations, civil society and the private sector. The event will be hosted in the former German federal parliament, the Bundestag.

Stakeholder Forum is assisted the Bonn 2011 Secretariat in engaging and outreaching to global stakeholders to ensure that a wide diversity of voices, communities and sectors are represented in the dialogue process.
