DPI/NGO Conference update

Dear Friends,

Over 2100 stakeholders are now pre-registered for the  64th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference  – sustainable societies – responsive citizens. Registration closes 16th August.

The Co Chairs of the Group of Experts of the Planning Committee of the 64th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference have made available the Zero Draft version of the NGO Declaration to be submitted for adoption by consensus by NGO delegates at the close of the 64th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference in Bonn,it  is now available for NGO review and comment on the Conference website (http://www.un.org/dpingoconference), The Stakeholder Forum website (www.earthsumit2012.org), the German NGO website (http://www.ngo-un-conference-blog.org/) and the UNV website (http://www.unv.org/).  Comments are taken until the 25th August.

The final agenda is up on the web site at http://www.un.org/wcm/webdav/site/ngoconference/shared/2-1%20A%20Draft%20Conference%20Schedule%20REV7web%20gbts%2012%20Aug.pdf

The workshop schedule is also now up  http://www.un.org/wcm/webdav/site/ngoconference/shared/Sample%20Workshops%20v3.pdf

Following the adoption of the Declaration by NGO delegates at the DPI/NGO Conference, the Declaration will be presented to the Host Country of the Federal Republic of Germany for possible submission to the 66th UN General Assembly. The Declaration therefore needs to be in the format of a UN document, and must reflect the focal areas of the Conference: sustainable development and Rio + 20, as well as civic engagement, and volunteerism in the context of sustainable development.

We look forward to seeing you in a few short weeks in Bonn!

Felix Dodds

Chair of the 64th Annual UN DPI/NGO Conference
