SF’s Felix Dodds speech at the 2nd UNITAR-Yale Conference on Environmental Governance and Democracy.
The 2nd UNITAR-Yale Conference on Environmental Governance and Democracy, in which Stakeholder Forum participated, was held on 17-19 September 2010 in New Heaven, Connecticut.
The Conference, which brought together academics, governance experts and civil society representatives from over 20 developed and developing countries, focused on the need to reform global environmental governance institutions to address climate change and move towards a green economy.
Throughout the conference, it was discussed the extent to which the institutional framework of environmental governance influences decision-making and thereby, policy outcomes. The final session underlined the importance of international knowledge sharing.
After the Conference, Yale, the World Resource Institute and other partners will build on recommendations generated during discussions to explore how these can be taken forward to tackle existing governance challenges.
